2022 is now behind us and we are looking forward.... Happy New Year!

2023 is the year in which the Barnsbury Laycock Liveable Neighbourhood (LN) will be designed, for implementation early 2024. That's the area bounded by Pentonville Road, the A1 and Caledonian Road.

After two years waiting, it’s our turn to enjoy the benefits which the good people of St. Peter’s, Canonbury East and West, Amwell, Clerkenwell, Highbury and St. Mary’s Church have experienced since their areas became People Friendly.

To begin the design process the Council’s LN Team need to know our views on the streets in our area – how could they be made healthier and more pleasant to be in: greener; less car-dominated; better for children; better for people with reduced mobility; better for us all.

We are the silent majority and it’s time for us to make a noise, let the Council know our views. You can write to: Barnsbury.Laycock.LN@islington.gov.uk, and we’d love to be copied in, barnsburystmarys@gmail.com.

Also, a public session where the community can come together and talk through ideas is already scheduled for January. We’ll let you know once we have further details.

During the Spring-Summer, as the LN Team develop designs there will be further opportunities for engagement. And then, Autumn-Winter, the final proposals will be the subject of a formal consultation.

So, a really exciting year for us all. We look forward to seeing you at the community engagement sessions, supporting the Council and creating a cleaner, safer, more Liveable future.
